Make sure you're prepared for the day with comfortable clothing, sturdy shoes and plenty of sunblock. Your guide should provide you with safety helmets and life jackets, and will take you through some instructions and training before you set off. Once you hit the water, the fun will really begin!

You'll help navigate your boat through rapids, over rocks and past some breathtaking scenery. You can raft with friends or strangers, but it's likely that by the end of your trip you'll have plenty to talk about!

The drive from Cairns to Tully covers picturesque scenes of coastal mountains, sugar cane fields and clear rivers and streams. Best of all, you can do it year-round, as the tropical water temperature means plunging into the river doesn't have to be limited to the summer months.

Make sure you've got your holiday accommodation sorted before you set off on your great adventure. Mantra Trilogy in Cairns might be the perfect base for your holiday, due to its vicinity to the ocean, barbecue facilities and private balconies.
