Featuring over 200 objects and items such as gold pieces, jewellery, embroidered and woven cloths, and more, the Lost Worlds of Peru exhibition is your chance to learn more about the famous Inca Empire and the history of Peru.

"With the wide variety of treasured items on show, Gold and the Incas: Lost Worlds of Peru is a must-see during your Canberra holiday. There are also plenty of other exhibits to catch at the National Gallery throughout the year, so be sure to stop by to catch all the action."

The exhibition showcases some of the most exciting archaeological discoveries that have been made over the past 100 years, and many museums in Peru have also lent some of their own fascinating items to the National Gallery.

According to a recent Canberra Times interview with Senior Curator Christine Dixon, the oldest piece on show in the exhibition is a carved idol that has been dated to 1,000 BC. Another highlight to look out for is a 1,500-year-old feather cloak that was preserved in a tomb in the desert.
