Kylie Minogue is coming to Sydney

Kylie Minogue is coming to Sydney

From the pop hit sensation that thrust her to stardom (Loco-Motion), to her latest 2014 album (Kiss Me Once), Kylie Minogue has had a long, successful and much-beloved career.

With millions of albums sold worldwide, few may remember her time starting out as the young Charlene on Neighbours, debuting in 1986. However, Australia has most definitely not forgotten her music, and - thankfully - Kylie has definitely not forgotten Australia.

Her Kiss Me Once tour starts in Perth on March 14, and travels across the country, landing in Sydney on March 20. Do you have your Sydney holiday accommodation booked yet?

Kiss Me Once

The Kiss Me Once tour - featuring shows in Perth (14th), Adelaide (17th), Melbourne (18th), Sydney (20th) and Brisbane (21st) - is the pop queen's first tour of her homeland since 2012. In true Kylie fashion, she has pulled out all the stops to impress her Australian brothers and sisters.

The show will feature hits from her chart-topping current album, Kiss Me Once, with a special guest appearance by disco-legend Giorgio Moroder to co-perform 'Right here, right now'. On top of that, you can also expect plenty of classics in the mix from throughout her extensive decades-long career.

"Bringing my show back home is always an amazing feeling, so I can't wait," said Kylie. "Get your dancing shoes on!"

So what can you expect from the show itself? Glitz, glamour, neon lights and some excellent electronic beats, that's what. She is the centrepiece to a dazzling display, with exciting dancers, fascinating set pieces and multiple costume changes throughout for the princess herself.

"Do you love Australia's favourite daughter, Kyle Minogue? She's coming to Sydney on March 20! Here's what you need to know about the show."

The Journal and The Independent, both UK-based, gave the show positive reviews and four out of five stars, impressed by Kylie's ability to perform with the same energy she had decades ago (despite now being in her mid-40s).

The show will be performed at Sydney's Qantas Credit Union Arena.

How to get there

Worried about travelling there? Don't be! Sydney has a great public transport system, and there are plenty of ways for you to get to the action on time. That's if you even require it.

The Qantas Credit Union Arena is incredibly conveniently located, right at the heart of the Sydney city centre. If you choose to stay at the sophisticated Mantra on Kent hotel, Kylie's show is barely a 15-minute walk away, situated just south of Tumbalong Park and the Chinese Garden of Friendship.

From the Circular Quay ferries, or Mantra 2 Bond Street, you can easily take a bus down George Street, alighting at Hay Street and walking the rest of the way (which isn't far).

Alternatively, Sydney's light rail network has a station just next to the arena. Look for a train that will take you to Paddy's Market Station.

Where to stay

Next to the tourist heaven of Darling Harbour is Mantra on Kent. Your room at this modern hotel - be it a studio apartment, two-bedroom apartment or anything in between - can offer you a stunning cityscape panorama, or sparkling harbour views. Before you head out to Kylie's show, make sure to stop by on-site Cascades Restaurant for a delicious bite to eat.

A short ways north, close to Circular Quay, lies another fantastic hotel, Mantra 2 Bond Street. This stylish building houses numerous comfortable rooms, ranging from executive studio apartments - with separated dining room and bedroom - to one-, two- or three-bedroom apartments with designer kitchens and plenty of space. When you aren't exploring Sydney itself, make sure you check out the rooftop heated swimming pool here, as well as the spa and gymnasium.
