Surfers Paradise is a wonderland for beachgoers and surfers, who flock from around the world to its golden sands and sparkling waves to escape, unwind and find some excitement. At the start of April each year, it isn't just surfing and sun bathing on the menu for this buzzing city.
The Surfers Paradise Festival returns again in 2015 to bring a dazzling showcase of entertainment, art and a whole load of fun to the streets of this place, perfect for an Easter weekend adventure on the Gold Coast.
So make sure you go online and book your Surfers Paradise resort accommodation, and check out what's on this year at the city's famous event.
The Surfers Paradise Festival boasts an eclectic mix of entertainment, celebrating what can only be described as a kaleidoscope of local art, culture, music and food.
So what can you experience between April 3 and April 18?
Well, from April 3 to April 6 you need to take a stroll up Cavill Mall. This is the staging area for one of the event's most exhilarating competitions: The Australian Street Entertainment Championships (ASEC). It runs for four days, providing onlookers with an entirely free spectacle to gaze at in awe, as internationally renowned performers show off their talent, and local up-and-comers compete to win the competition.
Looking for a challenge for you and the kids that provides a bit of fun along with some photo opportunities? During the festival there will be 30 giant koala statues located around Surfers Paradise, each designed and created by a different local or international artist. These magnificent statues are to raise awareness for Currumbin Wildlife Hospital's efforts in helping thousands of sick or injured animals each year, and it also makes for an exciting adventure to see if you can find them all!

For the braver souls among you who enjoy a good scare, you could join a ghost tour of Old Surfers Paradise, provided by Lantern Ghost Tours. These run daily and will provide you with some background into the spooky history of the area. You never know, you could even get face-to-face with a couple of ghosts!
There are plenty of other events happening around the area too which are suitable for adults and children, some free and others with admission fees. Make sure to check out the festival program to see what you'd like to do during your stay.
To get around the area, it might be worth looking into purchasing a TransLink Go Card. This is the digital prepaid ticketing system of Southeast Queensland, and can be used for buses, trams and trains. Not only will this save you from carrying spare change around every day, but it also gets you 30% off the standard paper ticket price! These cards can be bought online, from retailers including 7-Eleven stores, or at the light rail station in Surfers Paradise.
