This December, put aside some time in your schedule for one of the most anticipated events in Melbourne. Billed as the No. 1 Party Musical, Grease has undergone a multi-million dollar production renovation to return to Australia with a bang.

The show

This is a musical reincarnation of the much-loved movie that starred our very own Olivia Newton-John, and it's got an all-star cast to boot. Sing along to all the songs you know and love and take in the electric atmosphere of the stage. While it's been more than 35 years since the massive movie hit big screens around the world (and became the highest-grossing movie musical of all time), the 1950s nostalgia is alive and kicking on the stage.

All your favourite tunes will be performed in an unforgettable fashion, including classics such as "Summer Nights", "Hopelessly Devoted to You" and "Grease is the Word". The show has received rave reviews the world over and will no doubt provide family-friendly fun to audiences across Melbourne and beyond.

Following on from successful stints in Adelaide and Hobart, Grease will open in Melbourne's Regent Theatre on December 6. There's a huge range of show times to suit every traveller, including one at 1pm on Wednesday and then another at 8pm the same day. There are also three shows across the weekend, perfect for those who have weekday commitments. The performance schedule runs into the new year so you have no excuse for missing this incredible production!

The stars

So who's lining up to take the stage and steal your hearts? Our very own Rob Mills stars as Danny Zuko, the rebel heartthrob who wins Sandy over. Rob has been in the spotlight for more than a decade, bursting onto the scene with a successful Australian Idol stint and continuing to delight audiences on the stage ever since. He's starred in productions of "Wicked" and "Legally Blonde" and has made his way to leading man status with great gusto.

Starring opposite Rob is Gretel Scarlett, who plays the role of Sandy. She's taken the stage in "Wicked" and "Mamma Mia", and has a plethora of qualifications and accreditations under her belt to help bolster her performance as the squeaky-clean good girl who falls for the bad boy.

Another notable cast member is national icon Bert Newton, who will be embracing the role of Vince Fontaine and drawing upon his talents as a comedian and compere. The 18-time Logie winner has previously performed in productions of The Sound of Music, The Wizard of Oz, Wicked and Annie, and is beloved by audiences around Australia and overseas.

Rounding out the glittering lineup of stars is John Paul Young, who plays the role of Johnny Casino. The hugely popular 70s music icon has been inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame and has had a successful stint with "Jesus Christ Superstar" along with a whopping 13 cameo roles throughout "Shout – the Johnny O'Keefe Musical".
