Five Ways to Beat your Post Holiday Blues

The days are longer, the memories are sweeter... There's nothing quite like being on holiday and forgetting what day of the week it is.

But if you spent the summer travelling and are now back to living vicariously through #travelinspo on Instagram or simply just trying to avoid those emails piling up in your inbox, here are five ways to beat your post-holiday blues, because we all know the feeling too well!

1. Make the most of day trips

We often fail to discover the beauty within the comfort of our own city. If you've lived in the same city your whole life, you might find that you've missed some of the most beautiful places just a stone's throw away.

Make the most of your weekend and get out of town with day trips. Escape for the weekend and keep discovering beyond the comforts of your own home. You'd be surprised at the difference it can make.

Favourite stay option: Mantra on Little Bourke, Melbourne.

2. Start planning

It's never too early to start planning your next holiday and the best part is you'll have more time to budget accordingly. A great way to research is by creating different Pinterest boards to gather ideas for each destination you'd like to visit.

Consider what time of year do you want to travel in, and what's the weather in your chosen destination like at that time?

Pay attention to low season, because you'll find better deals and there'll be fewer crowds, so try and work around this option. If you're looking at a coastal destination in winter, consider opting for a hotel with a heated pool so you can still enjoy the water without the winter chill.

Favourite heated pool: Mantra Circle on Cavill, Gold Coast

3. Make the most of your photos

If you love capturing the moment while you're travelling, why not create something beautiful as a memory of your adventures? Head to a photo shop and get your favourite travel snaps printed so you can cover your walls in memories.

Whether you frame them or simply make a photo collage on your wall, create something that's a constant reminder of your favourite destinations and past experiences.

4. Jump on sales

If you need an excuse to travel, why not book a trip when flights or accommodation are on sale. If you're undecided about where to go, think about destinations near you that you've previously never considered. These make for an easy getaway.

5. Organise a staycation

If you've run out of annual leave (find out how you can make the most of your annual leave in 2017) or if you are trying to save it for a big holiday, consider organising a weekend staycation in the comforts of your own city.

Something as simple as organising a girl's night in the city or a weekend away with your loved one can simply reset and recharge you for the weeks to come.

The daily grind doesn't have to be about forever waiting for your next holiday. Consider short-stay holidays and mid-week getaways that will save you money and mean that you can go on more holidays throughout the year for less.
